Hold on to your seats, another New York Knicks’ big man is making headlines.
But in a shocking twist, it’s for doing something good…on the court, no less!
In perhaps something that’s as mythical as the unicorn nickname Porzingis has earned during his time in New York, the Knicks earned a trophy, as Porzingis took home the 2017 Taco Bell Skills Competition title.
Set up in a “guards vs big men” style tournament for the third consecutive season, the Latvia native first squared off against Demarcus Cousins of Sacramento, edging the Western big guy in the three point showdown.
Next up, it was a European showdown, as Porzingis squared off against Serbia native Nikola Jokic. Facing off against a player nicknamed “The Joker”, Porzingis, much like another famous citizen of a place called Gotham City, defeated The Joker in dominating fashion.
Porzingis’s evening capped off in tremendous fashion, besting Gordon Hayward in the final round.
At 7’3, Porzingis now becomes the tallest player in Skills Challenge history to earn the title, besting last year’s champ, Karl Anthony-Towns, by 3 inches.
Soak it up Knicks fans…that basketball on the sparkly tube is your Larry O’Brien Trophy.
