Stephen A. Smith Drops Yet Another N-Bomb On Skip Bayless On ESPN’s First Take

Stephen A. and Skip Bayless have been getting worked up and arguing about trivial shit since 2004. It’s like professional wrestling at this point. Two men enter the ring, pretend to fight, one of them sort of wins, and you hate them both. And, much like in professional wrestling, sometimes people actually get hurt. Or actually fight (like the time JBL beat up the Blue Meanie at the Royal Rumble).

Looks like Stephen A. got a little TOO jacked up for whatever the topic was, and let some of his off camera language slip out. What do you think? Did he say what we think he said? Does it matter that he’s done this before? Is this just a thing he does that sounds very similar to the N-word? Check out the last time he did it (video below), and let us know what you think…

H/T Tre LeFebvre

  • Mike Thigpen

Sure its ok for some people to use the Stupid N-Word, but get Butt Hurt when others use it. N-igga Please…. If it was Skif Brainless that said it, then he would have had to apologize to the whole Damn Country. Pathetic

  • Drew

Who cares lol??? He’s Stephen A Smith! He’s black! Yes it’s true that we as the black community probably wouldn’t allow Skip to say Nigga. Now me myself, I try to say it less because I think it’s a uneducated word & I try not to stoop to that level.. But it does come out because most black people hear it 500 times a day.. No. we have been arguing this for decades now. . Nigga and Ni**er are not the same.. True white people are more likely to get beat within a inch of their life if they utter both.. But to black people ” Nigga ” is fairly acceptable when your not using it in a fashion to give less power to a person.. But Ni**er has a different sting to it, it hurts coming from anyone’s mouth.. It’s clearly unacceptable! It’s just how the world works, it’s a double standard world!

  • Mike Thigpen

I agree 100% with everything you said.

  • Hemone

    he didnt say it

  • GLang

You can read his lips and know he didn’t say it.

  • Jan Liston

He didn’t say it… And even if he did….this is not even news…who cares

  • Jan Liston

    Totally agree!

  • Anonymous

    So what did he say?

  • Vince

Dude, Your clueless. The word is the word whether it ends with and “a” or “er”. I don’t care what color he is. If it’s wrong to say it’s wrong to say. There shouldn’t be double standards.

  • Greg Courington

Smith is a joke. I used a J not a N. We do have a society of hypocritical attitudes. Some we understand some we don’t. Smith uses his platform to feed the hypocrisy. He’s smart and stupid. Thats a “S” on both.

  • Harley Spoon

Nah, Drew, you want to be able to put something off on “whitey” with no recourse….Hypocrisy is hypocrisy and personal class counts. It does matter whether “you trash” say “Niggah” or “White trash” says “NIgger”…Class and character has more to do with it than color/ethnicity…The “N” word (either way) is low class trash talk whether one it Black or Brown or White or Red or Yellow….

  • Quentin Raffensberg

What ever happened to journalists being articulate and using proper grammar. All these blowhards are full of themselves and lack professionalism. Ever notice how many if them stutter? They do this because they can’t get a word in….. go back to 2 guys in a booth, 1 or 2 guys hosting shows and get rid of this “edgey” style that lacks intelect. And btw Skip and Smith both suck.

  • Homie

He’s saying ninja please. You guys are silly to think he would say nigga live on television

  • ray

Ok if white ppl had been oppressed as black folk amd also gays now the word CRACKER would be highly offensive but because they dont know of an entire racial oppression gives space between the two cultures. Though I believe Stephena. Showed a lack of professionalism it is understood that there are certain words that can no longer be used by the oppresors

  • Snack

The oppressors? Ninja Please. It’s a word from 300 years ago. The world would be better off forgetting the past and focusing on the future.

  • Humanity is Lost

I am sick and tired of the mindless comments that come out of uneducated minds, and I use the word mind very loosely. Clearly the idiot who said white people know nothing about being oppressed has never heard of the fact that the Irish were sold as slaves long before Africans were. And if you don’t believe me then Google it. Surely you have at least one brain cell that can handle doing even that.

And to the ever so eloquent person who tried to validate why either version of this word should be used. Really?! That’s the best reason you can come up with! The lamest, most tired, pathetic excuse I’ve ever heard to justify why a select group of people are somehow not allowed to use a word. Honestly, this just goes to show how uneducated the people who use this word truly are. If you had ever bothered to use a dictionary you would know that it means “ignorant person”. There is no race attached to it. So just because the KKK used it centuries ago doesn’t mean you’ve somehow magically gotten even with them every time you use the word. Oh, and please don’t ever attempt to speak for the entire black race ever again. Those of us in the black community who are educated enough to understand the connotation of the word do not feel the need to use it. Why should I stoop so low as to use a baseless word like that to describe another person. I really, really, really hope you ignorant excuses for human beings are sterile because the world does not need you polluting the gene pools by breeding more of your ilk.

  • ido

I’d rather watch JBL punch out the Blue Meanie than ESPN these days. That network has gone down the tubes.

  • Rob

The double standard is what it is. That sounds stupid, but it’s true. There’s pretty much a derogatory term for any category of person, and the N bomb double standard stands true for any slur towards any group. We shouldn’t be arguing about whether or not the double standard is wrong, because the use of it is wrong no matter who uses it. We all need to focus on respecting everyone, that means respecting people who are like us and people who are not. And if someone politely asks you not to use a word that’s known to put a group of people down, what’s so hard about respecting someone’s wish?

Hahaha Oppressed as black folk… News Flash Blacks were not the only Slaves…..

  • Anonymous

It is OK for black people to drop N bombs just not white people.

  • June

Nigger and Nigga is two different words last time I checked. it’s just a slag word used in the hood, whites and Ricans and blacks call eachother it, it a word that has many meanings like that’s hot, it’s slag for something cool or nice. but in other words look at the Eagles WR that said the N word. It depends on how you use it. Last time I check it’s not what people call you, it’s what you answer to.

  • bill

dude, get over it already, every other race that were once slaves has.

  • John

Stephen A. Smith is a fucking moron…enough said. He is a no talent ass clown.

  • Jake

Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m white, and if I pull the N word I’m a racist. Now, I’m more educated to go do that, but I also don’t go around calling all my white buddies crackers. Black Americans need to demand respect for themselves, and to do that they need to quit calling themselves the N word. The N word is not only disrespectful to their race, it’s a term that shouldn’t even exists. All these Black Americans run around cussing, calling themselves the N word, and making up words and phrases that insinuate sexual remarks, and wonder why so many people don’t respect them as human beings.

  • Anthony Jones

It’s a slur no matter who uses it, only ignorant black people and Rapper’s selling out to Madison Ave suburbanites use it…..Suspend his asses, it’s a step backward……Drops the MIC, BOOM!

  • randomperson

    Leave

Thing is, that wasn’t us. That was our generations great grandparents. We grew up in equality, I never once heard any hint or racism in school. I’m in college now and we think it’s ridiculous how so many people are so quick to throw the racism card. There are double standards in everything for every race, each gender, every sexual orientation.
For example, a guy who has lots of sex is a stud, a girl is considered a sl**.

Words that are supposedly offensive, like the n word or other offensive words to other ethnicities are used upon those ethnicities all the time, however, if anyone outside of their ethnicity says that word, it’s racism, even if not used in that kind of context or with that kind of intent.

As far as homosexuality goes, how many gay men do you hear call each other the f word? LOTS. Yet, it’s offensive when they get called it by someone whose not.

Yes the n word, and the f word are offensive and should not be said…by ANYONE. Stop saying this kind of stuff because it paints an image in younger peoples mind that it isn’t a bad thing if it’s used for comedy or to sound cool.

And PLEASE for the love of god, STOP pulling the racism card every other topic on ESPN. JUST BECAUSE ROMEO CRENNELA ND LOVE SMITH, the only two black coaches in FA, weren’t signed an everyone other team went with white, newer coaches to the league, does NOT mean that racism is to blame. God so many people on ESPN are stupid.

What about in the NBA? How many teams don’t have a single white player? Is that racist? NO, it’s about who is the best, what the teams are looking for in TALENT, not in skin color. Like how some people are calling out the Minnesota Timberwolves for being racist since they have more white players than black players….Some people are just so stupid.

Sure racism still exists, but not nearly as much, at least in our country, that the news, media, and everyone older than 40 seems to believe is the case. a message…

  • Tim

Before everyone does the “a” and “er” argument… Stephen A. Smith has repeatedly criticized the ignorance of the black community of saying this word no matter what the context is. He claims he never says it because it is ignorant to do so. That’s why it’s a “big” (i really don’t care) deal of him saying that

  • Mike Giroux

I think the argument off “hypocrisy” or “double standard” is very immature. If they don’t want us to use the word then that should be the end of it. It was their people/ancestors who were slaved and if they feel uncomfortable with white’s using the word then we shouldn’t use the word. “But but but they use it all the time,” who cares they have the right the to. I think as white people we really need to sit back and look at it from their side of the fence instead of looking at it from a white persons point of view because we won’t understand the point of why they don’t want us to use the word.
As far from Stephen A Smith, if he said it cool. If he didn’t soooo what. why are we trying to make a mountain out of a molehill?
