John Daly Is Good At Golf And Wearing Ridiculous Things

You never know what you’re getting from John Daly. You might get fantastic golf, you might get absurdity. But on some lucky days, you’ll get both. Today was one of those days.

Daly shot a 6-under 66 at St. Andrews today, in some of the best golf he’s played in a while. Oh, and he wore this. Yes, that. The whole ensemble is striking, but let’s really get a closer look at those pants.

Soak ‘em in.

At first we thought those were paisley patterns all over the shirt, but they’re not even that, really. This writeup referred to them as “amoeba-shaped designs,” which seems more accurate. Whatever they are, they’re spectacular, and we hope he continues to top himself fashion-wise throughout the week.

The biggest golf-related story, though, was that Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland submitted one of the best rounds in major championship history, firing a 9-under 63 to take the early lead.

If McIlroy keeps up that level of play, no one will touch him, but if Daly at least keeps himself in the conversation – either through his game or his attire – we’ll be satisfied. (OK, mostly we hope it’s his attire.)
