Phil Mickelson roared back in to contention at The Masters today, going on a back-nine birdie-eagle binge that left him one back of the lead, and set him up nicely to make things interesting on Sunday. In the process, he made one announcer go pretty nutty.

The Masters is well underway, with a glut at the top of the leaderboard: Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, and Sergio Garcia are all right there, and Tiger Woods… well, he’s within striking distance anyway, with most of his round still to go. The Masters’ Par 3 Contest is a relatively laid-back event – a “beloved Wednesday tradition [unlike any other].” It doesn’t actually count in the standings, so players can do all sorts of things they normally wouldn’t… like bring in unexpected guests (UPDATE: last year).
