Is A Former Tiger Woods Mistress The Worst Person Ever, Or Did The Post Take This 9/11 Quote Out Of Context?

The 10th anniversary of 9/11 is coming up, which – to us, at least – seems hard to believe. On the one hand, wow, 10 years – could it possibly have been that long? On the other hand, thinking of all that’s transpired since, wow, I guess it was that long ago. Certainly much that’s happened as a direct or indirect result of 9/11, to say nothing of the event itself, hasn’t been good, whereas one related event sparked a national celebration. But there’s no denying it was one of the most momentous events of this generation, and the anniversary each year is a time to reflect, grieve, come together, express hope, and just take some time out to remember.

Rachel Uchitel, perhaps the most prominent of Tiger Woods’ former mistresses – for her, it seems, it would be no different. Uchitel has an especially strong connection to 9/11 – her fiancé at the time, James Andrew O’Grady, was killed that day. But in reflecting on the day herself, Uchitel apparently told Page Six this:

“I believe Andy was meant to die because he was too good. I’m almost happy it ended the way it did because I’ve learned so many lessons from him. It would have been tragic if we got into fights and then divorced.”

As for what her life might have been like had O’Grady lived:

“I would be a fat housewife with three kids in Sands Point, LI.”

Now is the time when we point out that earlier today, Uchitel said the following in response to the Page Six item:

The NY Post Article today is COMPLETELY out of context and its horrifying how MEAN some media chooses to be to me even relating to 9/11.

The NY Post “journalists” are abusing the power they have by molding words and shaping how readers perceive people. This should be stopped

OK, on the one hand, “out of context” is the accusation someone throws around whenever they’re quoted saying something dumb and/or offensive. On the other hand – this is the New York Post, not the New York Times. We don’t know if they took it out of context, but it’s at least something we could imagine happening.

For Uchitel’s sake, let’s hope they did. Look, she went through a lot more on 9/11 than we did. She clearly suffered. Maybe we’re not in a position to judge at all. But reading those quotes – if they’re accurate – they’re fish in a barrel stuff (“would have been tragic”?!). Clearly, they look terrible, which is why Uchitel said what she did. And if the Post omitted some things so those quotes would read much more sensationally than they would have looked naturally, then they come out looking terrible. And either way…ugh.

I think she was just saying that only the good die young. Yea shes sexy but once her fiancee lived with her a few years and recognized her vapidity, it would’ve brought him down as a person and ended painfully. Death is hard to deal with, but if you have a strong faith in a glorious afterlife then it can be absolute and allow those around the deceased to rejoice in the Lord as they celebrate his life and learn from it to add to their own.
