Michael Phelps Continues To Be The Most Uninspiring Olympian Ever, Barely Qualifies For The 400m IM Final

Michael Phelps has given underwhelming interview after underwhelming interview of late, refusing our Olympic coronation and instead admitting that he hates the water. Well, then.

Phelps continued his pedestrian ways at his first Olympic qualifying meet, squeaking into the final of the 400m individual medley by seven hundreths of a second. Even though Phelps won his heat in 4 minutes, 13.33 seconds, the time pales in comparison to his Beijing world record of 4 minutes, 3.84 seconds. His time barely beat Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, silver medalist in the event at Beijing, who finished ninth and will not compete in the final.

Maybe the best part of it all is that Phelps will be in lane 8, an outermost lane, and, since he only breathes to his right, he’ll get a face full of wall on the final length instead of seeing the competition.

Phelps’ inadequacy wasn’t the only shocker from qualifying, as South Korea’s Park Tae-hwan was disqualified for a false start and world record-holder Paul Biedermann didn’t even make the final.

Do you not understand swimming? You know, prelims vs finals? Maybe you, a sports site, should do some research.

Exactly what is the point burning yourself out in the heats

So getting a world record time in the heat and burning out in the final would have been better. Use your brain if you have one!

    Most uninspiring Olympian?
    This is his fourth Olympics.
He’s won 16 medals, 14 of them gold. He went 6 straight years without ever missing a practice and has pretty much been training nonstop since he was 9 years old. He’s 27 and been training for 16 years. 16 YEARS. Who the ef are you, no doubt a pasty faced fatty who has never trained competitively for anything, to call HIM uninspiring? Nobody, that’s who. Now go back to your bowl of pretzels and fist full of velveeta.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I’m getting sick of all this negative news about Phelps. Yeah, he didn’t perform as well as he thought he would, but every reign has an end. It’s maybe Michaels last time competition, but he had one hell of a run. 16 medals and 14 of them gold. NBC and you can go suck yourself.

There is NO need to instigate the rivalry between Phelps and Lochte. Lochte worked his butt off to get to where he is. Michael did his time, and he admitted that he didn’t train as hard as he should have for this competition – therefore, Lochte is earning his gold. They are on a team together – and a team needs to be intact to successful represent America. This is NOT helping.
