Earlier this week, HBO’s Bryant Gumbel made a controversial comments regarding NBA commissioner David Stern, comparing him to a “plantation overseer.” As per usual when someone brings up slavery in a sports discussion, he’s caught some flak for it.
Today on the Dan Patrick Show, TNT analyst (and former NBA great) Charles Barkley chimed in on the comments. As only he can, Barkley takes a complicated and layered controversy and boils it down to a few sentences. In short, Gumbel’s comments were stupid. Allow Chuck to explain why.
