Bomani Jones On LeBron Missing Intro: “If You Spite Dan Gilbert, You’re Alright With Me”

Last night, LeBron James missed his player introduction at Quicken Loans Arena. This is important, because it was his second game back in Cleveland since he left the Cavaliers, and since he missed the intro, he also missed the special chorus of boos that Cavs fans reserve only for him.

LeBron later told reporters that the reason he was absent was that he was in the bathroom. This is most likely a lie. The real reason he missed the intro was probably because Gilbert wouldn’t allow a car full of LeBron’s friends into a private entrance at the arena, prior to the game.

So, LeBron skipped the intro. This, after all, was the main reason most people were there; they wanted to boo LeBron James. By skipping the whole thing, he was being just as passive-aggressive as Gilbert was by not letting his “entourage” into the arena.

If LeBron’s skipping of the introduction was a slight at Gilbert, ESPN’s Bomani Jones “[loves] it.”

“Let’s not forget: Dan Gilbert still walks around acting like some sort of aggrieved party,” said Jones on today’s Around the Horn. “Like he didn’t write that letter, like he didn’t put that picture of Delonte West on the team web site on the day of ‘The Decision,’ talking about the man’s mother? No, no, no, if you spite Dan Gilbert, you’re alright with me.”
