Are These Brooklyn Nets Logos Too Brooklyn?


The logos from the Brooklyn Nets are here — officially, that is; a sneak peek at the logo was already made available by someone via Twitter. Here are the officially official ones, in all their glory:

Much is being made of the various hip hop references in the team’s marketing campaign, from the “Hello Brooklyn” ads to a “The Corner” T-shirt (which is, admittedly, awesome), but more than anything else, all of this classy black and white decor is making me think of Brooklyn yuppies. Here are a couple of places around the borough that share some of the logos’ design DNA:

Uncanny. I can only conclude that plans are afoot to make the Nets into the NBA’s first artisanal basketball team, with a farmer’s market at half time, a Brooklyn Nets book club, and the players riding Brooklyn Cruisers into the arena before every game.
