Routine Profile Of Carmelo And La La Anthony Reveals Insane Portrait Of ‘Melo In Living Room
The New York Post profiled La La and Carmelo Anthony’s Hell’s Kitchen apartment, where they live with their 5-year-old son Kiyan. The profile itself was pretty standard, but in the midst of the usual boilerplate questions about decorating style, work/life balance and neighborhood vibe, there was this gem:
Have you recently purchased any artwork? What is your favorite piece?
This past Christmas, we purchased a huge, modern picture of my husband from the artist Paul Gerben, whose studio is located in SoHo. It was great to be directly in touch with the artist himself, which enabled us to create this fantastic, very large and abstract piece that we love.
Here’s the painting in question (the inset is the photo as it appeared in The Post).

Fantastic.
A couple of things: first, the shades and bowtie are so painfully perfect, I’m tempted to find out if there are prints available. Second, they commissioned this piece last Christmas, well after Melo and La La were married, and after their son was born. Which makes you wonder why no one suggested, “Hey, let’s get the rest of the family in here”?
