i think Casey showed remarkable restraint. He was punched in the face and took it. At anytime the smaller kid could have walked away but chose not to.

I taught my children that everyone has the right to defend themselves. Everyone has the right to protect themselves and if that means punching an aggressor in the face, or slamming them to the ground I will stand behind them 100%.

Name and punish the bully, the cameraman, and all the bystanders in the video – including the two girls looking on with amusement…. and investigate the school that lets this crap go on every day.

I guarantee you there won’t be a next time. Sometimes, you just have to show bullies that you won’t take it and that you can protect yourself. Most bullies are scared to death of someone who fights back. Casey just showed the entire world what happens when you push someone too far. Way to go Casey!!!! This is the ultimate responsibility of all of those people who call themselves parents. We must step up and teach our children and other children along with their “parents” physical, emotional, psychological abuse is the cause of our children hurting each other that will last them a life time. I have always stood up to bullies for my friends, my children and their friends. This bullying seems to be a form of enjoyment for those who are lost themselves that they do not realize it will lead to ‘SUICIDE” or accidental “DEATH”. Would you want your child growing up in knowing that they accidently killed someone either by their own hands or words? Here in Massachusetts, we are constantly burying our young to suicide…by bullying.
Enough is Enough….. PARENTS NEED TO PARENT…..and all of those involved should suffer some kind of concequence for not helping those who are in need of help. I myself was a victim of abuse by a girl who got off of my bus stop, told me to put my stuff down and fight. Those girls who stood there and watched these scene need to be expelled from the school for being accessories. I am glad Casey slammed that kid, and the fact that another moron was going to come forward to “protect” the kid doing the bullying was pathetic. That guy needs to be expelled as well for allowing the scene to take place. The person holding the camera needs to be expelled. Casey should NOT have been expelled. I can guarantee you that if the administration was held responsible for this, along with the teachers, and it hit their pocketbooks, the fighting would be halted imediately. Also, since it was clearly the younger, smaller boy who was the antogonist, hit his parents in the pocketbook. They might view their son’s bullying differently if THEY were held accountable. The older boy has every right to attend school in an atmosphere conducive to learning. The school obviously has not been able to provide that so he had to do so himself through the only means he saw available. Students write that there are fights and some students are afraid. How sad that adults do not do their job. If the school couldn’t handle the bully, they should expel him. Bullies need to learn there are consequences to their behavior and their parents need to have consequences, as well. In this case, the school should also be held to the fire on this!

I deplore bullying because I was a victim of it when I was a very young person. It is a sad commentary that one has to retaliate to gain some respect and security in the place we live. I honestly believe that parents are responsible for a child that is a bully. A child, male or female, is the product of what he or she learns at home for the most part, and some from their peers. I gained a wealth of respect after I gave back what was inflicted upon me. A sad situation.

I agree that the girl who stepped in and stopped a second larger guy from going after Casey should be praised. All of those watching and laughing when the skinny bully was going after Casey should be suspended (along with the skinny bully) and Casey should not be suspended because he only defended himself and then walked away. All of us need to stand up to bullies! No more of this “standing there watching” crap. Do something about it! When I was in HS, I didn’t allow bullies to pick on smaller, weaker kids. I stood up for the weaker kid and in no uncertain terms told the bully to back off. They did. All school students need to start doing the same and this kind of stuff would come to a halt.

Hooray for Casey! When I was in the 6th grade I hit the breaking point of no more. Over two days I had to fight and defeated the “boss” bully and his 2 sidekicks. I am now 68 years old and have never had a fight since because I stood my ground from then on. You are to be commended Casey.

To punish someone for defending himself is evil. We need to expose the bureaucrats, by name and position, who decided to suspend Casey Heynes for defending himself. They should be severely disciplined. Their fat paychecks and fat pensions should be vunerable to their unwillingness or inablility to perform their mandated legal duty of protecting their students from this outragious daily bullying. I bullied a classmate when I was young. He hit me very hard in the face. I am 57 and have never done anything like that again. I learned fast.

I was bullied a couple of time when I was young. Stood up to the bullies both times.

Lost one fight but was never bothered again by the same bully.

The second fight was scary but I put my metal lunch box through his face when I swung with all of my might. His teeth disappeared in a gush of blood and his nose was broken. No more bully. I never saw him in that school again.

I was bullied by superiors while in the ARMY and got my revenge by making them attack each other.
They were too busy fighting each other to bother me and I did exactly what I pleased.

I 100% agree. Casey only defended himself finally. Our school leaders failed if they punished Casey. I agree with the poster. Slam him harder the next time.

Don’t so sure, it takes more than one drop on the concrete to rein in a bully. I know, it took me several nasty fights to finally convince my bully that he would get seriously hurt if he continued. The last fight involved stitches for my bully.

Lars, please read the most recent news about the bully. He has refused to apologize to Casey. No need to assume anything, it’s painfully obvious that he has learned nothing.

I was bullied several times in school. Then I fought back and it stopped. It’s all instinct: show weakness and you get attacked. Show strength and you live peacefully. Everybody knows this, deep down. The ones who act or talk otherwise are facetious or disconnected from reality.

Looks like 99% of the posters are missing the real point here which i mentioned briefly two days ago.So I will expand it, its called brunt force trauma it happens mostly in sports and nobody thinks a tackle a punch or a push is going to kill or maim some one but it happens.
In this case of bullying (and the restraint from Casey was admirable), but just think one inch or less either way on that slam albeit it was a self defensive move could have been catastrophic for both boys their friends and famlies.A broken Neck or spinal damage will kill or maim one for life,a funeral or a wheel chair a sad end to the story is it not.When the parents and the kids get it maybe just maybe some good will come out of this type of bulling

kids are basically living representations of everything we fear about creating self aware, intelligent computers except that they actually have a physical body that can take action on their simplistic motivations whereas our computers are still lacking in that area for the most part.

Bullying and fights and other craziness in schools is nothing new, but now the prevalence of video cameras everywhere has given us instant replay and ability to spread it beyond the local schoolyard to and audience of millions which makes moving past a particular incident that much more difficult for all involved.

You can’t evaluate these things like you do with adults. Kids are essentially mental patients with the exception that their insanity is a temporary condition. You can’t let the patients run the asylum, but the ability of administrators to do anything in most cases is hampered by legal concerns and parent’s unfailing belief that their child can do no wrong (except of course when there is video evidence proving it beyond a shadow of a doubt)

If kids are to learn and build character, they have to be free to make bad decisions as well as good ones. The trick is not allowing a pattern of bad decisions to continue and to minimize their impact on all involved.

The most aggravating information about this case and others like it is not the specific incident of bullying, but the fact that everyone, adults and kids alike, seemed to be well aware that Casey was the target of an ongoing bullying campaign involving multiple participants over the course of several years. That type of unbalanced situation should have been addressed much earlier. It’s hard to expect kids to the right thing, when adults are afraid to…

Only SCUM victims turn around and create more victims. It’s no excuse. I couldn’t care less about the bully or his injuries. He deserves is.

I got bullied at school but my Dad taught me a useful tip. You have to fight back. A bully does it because he can and he thinks you are going to be easy to push around. Some found the hard way that I was not as soft as I looked. If you think it’s going to end in a fight then make sure you strke first and hard on the nose, it is a jungle out there in most schools so yo have to defend yourself. As with Casey the school come down on both the bully and the bullied because they are trying to hide the fact that they can not control it in any way shape or form.

It is obvious from the video that he didn’t want to retaliate, this is a message for all bullys, it is sad it came to this but hopefully some good may come out of it for both boys

He did not snap. He defended himself period. If he had run off and told someone as the teachers and administrators seem to have wanted him to he would have been subjected to this again probably the next day. It is crazy that he was or is in any kind of trouble for defending himself.

The next people to get body slammed should be the staff at the school. If this was daily behavior there is no way the school did not know about it. Fire them all, sue the school system there and make it safe for the rest of the kids. On a more personal note… Casey I was bullied by a 6th grader while in the 3rd grade here in America. This went on every day for half the school year. It didn’t stop until I layed him upside the head with a brick from behind. No one ever tormented me again all the way through graduation. I sincerely hope this works for you too. Way to go kid!

I was bullied once. I was a smart kid doing higher level courses and some group of guys in gym class decided to pick on me. I showed restraint at first (their actions were only mildly annoying) but then one day on my way to lunch they accosted me in the hall and I dropped my books, grabbed the ringleader by the throat, shoved him up against a locker and told him to piss off. Those idiots never bothered me again.

What a hypocrite you are. First, you commended Casey for defending himself. Next, you insulted other people for typing mean things in here. Then, you typed that you wish the best for all the kids. Make up your mind.

guarantee the staff knew about it and it had been repeated ly spoken about with alll parties involved but i certainly believe the “parents” of the bully laughed it off in front of their son and acted as if he was doing nothing wrong and he was just continuing to do his thing until the victim finally snapped! Too many people blame the school staff! I teach and where i work I don’t know one teacher that would back of that type of bullying behavioer…..the bullly would have his little ass swept downstairs to the Admin within seconds….I’v almost slammed a few boys for the BS I’ve seen pulled on kids(6-8th Middle School with over 1k students!) Now…once the admin gets a hold of them….it’s a different story……I’ve seen some bad kids walk away without reprucutions…..scared of being sued but F that!
