Chris Berman Will Be Back, Back, Back At ESPN For Many Years To Come

As reported in USA Today this morning, ESPN is expected to announce later today that Chris Berman, longtime anchor at the Worldwide Leader, will be signing a multi-year deal to stay with the network.

Berman acts as one of the regular contributors to Sunday editions of Sportscenter, serves as the host for NFL Sunday Countdown and has contributed his unique flavor of play-by-play to the annual MLB Homerun Derby in July.

Berman also has a little bit of a following online, and not all of it is positive. In the archive of accomplishments, Berman is probably most well-known for home run calls and pun-heavy highlight calls (most notably, “Back, Back, Back, Gone” and the usage of towns near the hosting stadium that long balls “end up in.”). However, there is a fair bit of infamy, too: he’s responsible for one notorious sports blogger meme, as well as one of the most infamous, harshly worded studio blow-ups in the Internet video era.

While there may have been some speculation that he would be parting ways with ESPN, it looks like the soon-to-be 55-year-old Berman will be manning the Bristol desk for years to come.
