You Will Officially Be Able To Settle The Dream Team Debate In NBA2K13

Prior to this summer’s Olympics, a popular debate emerged among media and fans alike. Could the squadron of freakishly athletic millionaires we sent to London (LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant chief among them) defeat the the 1992 Dream Team, widely considered to be the greatest team ever assembled, in any sport?

That Barcelona team, led by Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Charles Barkley, featured 11 Hall of Famers, and their depth at center (thanks, Patrick Ewing and David Robinson!) was seen by many – including us — as too much for the younger, faster London team to overcome. And although we’ll never know who would actually win this hypothetical clash of the titans, we now know that we’ll be able to sim it.

Scottie Pippen, the only player on the 1992 team to not sign an agreement with 2K Sports which would allow the company to use his virtual likeness, has had a change of heart. We have Facebook and Twitter to thank.

“Feedback on forums, social media, and community interactions were the driving force in influencing Pippen to sign a deal, as fans had shared widespread disappointment over his absence from the 1992 roster,” 2K Sports said in a statement.

Pippen is in. The squads are complete. The only question is: Who are you playing as first? Has to be the ’92 team, right?
