Report: Police Investigating Mysterious White Powder At ESPN’s Bristol Campus

NBC Connecticut is reporting that police and fire officials in Bristol are investigating a mysterious white powder at ESPN’s campus.

Police said white powder was in three packages at the facility, which is located at 545 Middle St. Some employees were exposed to the powder and are being decontaminated.

According to NBC Connecticut, some local schools received letters with white powder last week, and one of the letters said al-Qaida “is back.” Now, we’re not sure why al-Qaida would be targeting schools in Bristol, Connecticut — or ESPN, for that matter — and we’re inclined to think this is a) nothing, and b) the work of a local crazy (or crazies). When we learn more, though, we’ll let you know.

UPDATE: Yep, it was drywall powder. ESPN emailed us the following statement:

“Local DEP officials have concluded their tests and have no concerns.  Our mail room is back in operation and all employees are fine.”
