ESPN’s Statement On Bruce Feldman: “There Was Never Any Suspension”
This morning, ESPN was the target of considerable outrage among pretty much everyone who talks about sports for a living when it was reported that the company had suspended college football reporter Bruce Feldman.
The reported suspension was apparently due to his participation in a new book with former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, in which Leach is extremely critical of ESPN’s coverage of his termination. The apparent suspension of Feldman came despite the fact that Feldman had gotten permission from ESPN management to work on the book.
Well, the plot just thickened. The following is an emailed statement we just received from ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz.
There was never any suspension or any other form of disciplinary action. We took the time to review his upcoming work assignments in light of the book to which he contributed and will manage any conflicts or other issues as needed. Bruce has resumed his assignments.
So… #freebruce won?
