You’ll Never Believe It, But Things Got A Little Testy At The Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz Weigh-In

Yes, yes, we’re as shocked as you are. When Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz stepped on the scale yesterday before their fight tonight, we all expected it to pass without incident. Really, it’s a weigh-in – what could happen? It’s not like it’s a complete contrivance designed specifically to drum up more interest in the fight by way of something “crazy” happening, right? And yet…

“It’s all a big joke,” Ortiz mumbled. “It’s nothing.”

WHAT?! How DARE you talk of weigh-ins that way! Making them sound like some sort of cartoonish spectacle! It’s entirely necessary to have both boxers and their camps present so that the fighters can step on a scale! (Speaking of the scale, Ortiz measured in at 147 pounds, while Mayweather was 146.5.) Anyway, we hope that in the future, these fighters will show more respect for the sanctity of the weigh-in. We don’t need anything messing with the sport’s raging popularity.
