Gymnast (and Brady Quinn’s Girlfriend) Alicia Sacramone Making Comeback
USA women’s captain Alicia Sacramone experienced true adversity in Beijing, falling in two of her three events and assuming a significant portion of the blame for her team’s 2nd-place finish to China.
But, after falling off the horse (actually only male gymnasts use a horse. It’s a balance beam.), Sacramone will finally get get back on.
The 22-year-old will return to competition this Saturday when she will compete in the beam and the vault at the Cover Girl Classic. And, as is the defining characteristic of many athletes, Sacramone pointed to her competitive nature as the reason for her return:
“I didn’t have the performance of a lifetime at the Olympics, and I know I’m a better competitor than that,” Sacramone said. “I want to show everybody the true athlete I am so I can finish my career on a better note.”
A man who can relate to Sacramone’s sentiments is Sacramone’s boyfriend of almost a year, Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn, who, since being drafted 22nd overall by the Browns in 2007, has floundered in the NFL.
According to Sacramone, this shared adversity between the two has served as a unifying factor in their relationship.
“He related to my hard times, and I related to his,” she said.
(Although she added that she has an Olympic medal and that Quinn’s career highlight has been an EAS sponsorship.)
Sacramone will participate in the U.S. Championships in 3 weeks with the goal of earning a spot to participate in the World Championships, which will run in October.
We wish her the best. (And not just because she’s really attractive.)
Here is a video of Sacramone’s Day 2 Olympic Trials. Ignore her slight fall at the end because otherwise it’s awesome:
Also, here’s a video of Sacramone punching one of her friends at Brown, which is hilarious. In her defense, she was dared:
