Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher Sustains Scary Injury Against Arsenal

Today, Liverpool and Arsenal played to a 1-1 draw in a game with a wild finish: both teams scored on penalty shots in extra time. The result dealt a blow to second-place Arsenal’s English Premier League title hopes – when they scored on the first of the penalty shots, they looked like they would come away with the win and close the gap with Manchester United, so losing the win on a penalty was especially bitter.

Unfortunately, though, perhaps the most striking aspect of the game other than its ending was an injury to Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher. Carragher accidentally collided in the air with teammate John Flanagan during the match’s 56th minute, and had to be carted off the field. Fortunately, his club later reported that while he sustained a concussion, he was up and alert. Video of the collision below, via Mocksession.
