Best Women’s Goal Ever? Japanese Player Is A One-Woman Army (Video)
17-year-old Kumi Yokohama scored the game-winning goal for Japan against North Korea in the Under-17 Women’s World Cup on Tuesday. The goal came during the semifinals of the tournament, it may be one of the greatest women’s soccer goals ever, and it has a hilariously delirious Japanese announcer. Whammy.
Yokohama’s nifty footwork got her past five North Korean defenders, and the sequence looks like a scene from your average youth soccer game: there’s always that one kid with European parents who is just much, much better than the other kids, and can dribble through clusters of them with no problem.
As if Yokohama’s individual effort wasn’t enough, the Japanese announcers absolutely lose their minds when she scores. And it’s predictably awesome.
