Son Of FOX Studio Host Killed In Car Accident [Fox News]
…And Don’t Expect To See Jay Mariotti On ESPN Anytime Soon, Either
If you enjoy watching Jay Mariotti on Around The Horn (we’ve never heard of such a person, personally) or if you enjoy hating Jay Mariotti on Around the Horn (far more likely), bad news: you won’t be able to do that for a while.
After AOL announced earlier today they were suspending Mariotti, SportsByBrooks is now reporting he won’t appear on ESPN for at least next week.
Brooks said he’s been told the timing of Mariotti’s upcoming absence is not a coincidence, although ESPN spokesperson Josh Krulewitz declined to elaborate to him on the matter. But let’s face it…there’s no way this is a coincidence, and we’d be surprised if Mariotti is even back the week after next.
In our original Mariotti arrest post, we said that someone in the business of publicly getting people riled up has to expect others to revel in their lowest moments, whether it’s fair or not. After today, it’s clear that Mariotti’s chance to recover from the incident, and potentially win back some semblance of public dignity, will not come for a while, if ever. And there will probably not be a lot of people lamenting it.
