Joakim Noah Will Not Be Singing Christmas Carols With Kevin Garnett

Kevin Garnett has been under the microscope since Charlie Villanueva‘s controversial tweet. Naturally, Joakim Noah, one of the more eccentric players in the NBA, made some entertaining comments about Garnett. From ESPN Chicago:

“Kevin Garnett will not — will not — get a Christmas gift from me. I don’t like him. He’s a very mean guy. Where’s the love? None at all. Ugly, too.

I had his poster in my room. I used to wear his jersey. And the truth is my rookie year, I was in admiration of this guy, and he kind of shut me down. And he was very mean to me my rookie year.

And he’s only mean to the young guys and the [European players], for some reason. I don’t know why, but that’s who he doesn’t like. He’s not nice. I talk a lot of trash out there, but c’mon, be a little sensitive. Be sweet.”

Noah, the guy known as “Sideshow Bob,” calling KG ugly? Pure comedy. Take it away Twitter.

Noah is an outspoken (when he speaks) goofball. He is the NBA’s modern day Bill Walton. He supports hemp and free love. He’s cagey and he’s funny. He’s ribbing KG, and he’s doing it well–they’re rivals.

They’re supposed to dislike one another. And this type of goofy-big man-quasi-rivalry is just great. I mean, Noah and KG are complete opposites. If Noah goes to Phish concerts, KG goes to Public Enemy concerts. And so forth.

Noah is putting KG’s meanness in the simplest–and funniest–terms. Now let’s move on. We get it–KG is a prick on the court. This is not a big deal, but rather a well known fact. And it makes me pray these two teams face one another in the playoffs. A Noah-Boozer combo versus a Garnett-Shaq-Big Baby trio would be a sight to see.

Everyone and their mother knows that Garnett talks a lot of trash. Does he pick on Europeans and rookies because he had some traumatic experience when he was a rookie? Maybe Rik Smits picked on him. Or maybe he’s just a big fan of the O’Doyles.
