Celtics’ Kevin Garnett Will Miss Two Weeks, According To GM Danny Ainge


Boston can breathe a sigh of relief: Celtics forward Kevin Garnett did not seriously injure his left knee on Wednesday night.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge appeared on WEEI sports radio in Boston, and announced that Garnett’s MRI had come back negative. According to the timetable set out by Ainge he’ll only miss two weeks.

“Kevin had an MRI and a thorough examination and it’s the same as last night,” he said. “It’s just a muscle – I say just – but it’s a muscle injury, a strained calf. It’s actually the muscle just off the side of the leg, just below the knee, and it’s not anything to do with his knee, which is great news.”

Great news, indeed: Garnett has a history of knee problems, and any ligament damage would have been a huge blow to a Celtics team that has a shot at winning the NBA title this year.
