Worst Goalkeeper Ever? You Decide (Video)

What’s that old adage? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I’m getting the eff out of here.

Apparently that’s how it translates into Arabic – at least for our favorite calamitous keeper, Khalid Askri.

He launched to infamy superstardom a couple weeks ago for this bizarre, prematurely-celebrated penalty, and the FAR Rabat stopper is back in the news this week for yet another howler.

In the 40th minute of a match against KAC Kenitra, Askri receives a back pass from a defender near the top of the 18-yard box. After rather nonchalantly playing it, the ball is immediately tackled away and into the net by an eager and waiting Kentira forward for the match’s only goal.

It’s Askri’s reaction, though, that really brings the video home. Off camera, he removes his jersey, evades teammates offering consolation (not unlike the Kenitra attacker eluded him in the area), and heads off down the tunnel tugging off his goalkeeping gloves.

At this point, we have to admit that we genuinely feel bad for the 29-year-old keeper. He’s got a case of the yips something terrible (and I mean like Chuck Knoblauch terrible).

Too bad there are about 1.5 million YouTube viewers out there who have no reservations about tuning in. Sorry Khalid, we’re trying to turn the tide for you, but it’s not working to well.
