Lacrosse Team Apologizes For Halftime Show Where Mascot Got Lap Dances (Video)

Perhaps you’ve seen a video making the internet rounds of an…inappropriate halftime show at an indoor pro lacrosse match in Boston. In it, the mascot for the National Lacrosse League’s Boston Blazers…well, he got lap dances. But don’t worry – they weren’t strippers. No, this was a classy show. Rather, the dancers were, as Blazers GM Doug Reffue explained, “fans who volunteered for the halftime promotion,” according to the AP writeup linked above. Without saying anything further about this whole spectacle, here’s what it looked like:

Maybe the best part of the video is the voice saying “Oh, dear God!” as the spectacle begins – it was clear from the outset this was going to be a disaster. But given that Reffue said he was “extremely disappointed” with parts of the show (including, presumably, what you see above) in apologizing and promising nothing like it will happen again…well, how’d it happen in the first place? A statement from Reffue on the team’s Facebook page (which is more than likely getting the most attention it ever has) says:

The Boston Blazers half time act for Saturday’s game was clearly not executed according to plan.

According to one person who posted a video, the emcee of this hilariously misguided endeavor was a local radio personality from this station. It sounds like the station was indeed behind, as Reffue said, not “execut[ing] according to how [the show] was spelled out to us,” and we wouldn’t count on seeing another 94.5/Blazers collaboration anytime soon.
