On Stage With Manny Pacquiao After Last Night’s Fight Was…Paris Hilton

Manny Pacquiao beat someone other than Floyd Mayweather again last night, scoring a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley that left most people wanting more. SI’s Chris Mannix called it a “sham” that was “awful for boxing.” Bill Simmons implored Pacquiao to “fight someone good.” Mosley was so nonexistent last night that even Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, suggested he retire. This was not the fight anyone wanted to see.

I don’t know a whole lot about boxing, though, so I’m not here to tell you about the fight itself. No, I’m here to tell you about a strange scene after the fight, shared by Mannix. Pacquiao took questions after the fight, as is customary. What was not customary: seated to Pacquiao’s left as he spoke were…Paris and Nicky Hilton. What were they doing there? Hell if I know (and I don’t seem to be alone on that), but there they were. The scene, via Mannix:

Are you confused? I’m still confused. Really, this is all the more reason for Pacquiao and Mayweather to finally end all this speculation and anticipation and just fight one another. My two main questions about Pacquiao are now, “Why can’t this Mayweather fight just happen?” and “What was Paris Hilton doing there?” I should be appreciating his greatness as a fighter. Instead, I’m thinking about Paris Hilton. This is not what should be happening.
