Miami Heat Do Most Miami Heat Thing Ever

Heat fans (or “fans,” as it were) can look forward to a nightclub opening at the Miami Heat’s AmericanAirlines Arena, whose admission will be free for ticket-holders after games. Bienvenido a Miami.

The club is being designed by Sam Nazarian, who has created similar venues at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Marlins Park baseball stadium in Miami (the latter is called, bizarrely, “The Clevelander”). Oh, boy. Business Week has additional details:

SBE, which has a 50 percent investment and revenue stake in the Miami Heat venture, expects an increase in demand from game- goers to aid future growth.

“People want to connect when they go to a game or a concert but there’s no place for them to intermingle,” Nazarian said. “With Hyde,” he said, “it gives people a chance to stay.”

Is Nazarian all that familiar with Heat fans? The ones who are so chronically late to games that the team launched a campaign asking them to “Fan Up?” The ones who, when they do show up, look like this? If sober Miami Heat fans are wearing Uggs to games, imagine what drunk Miami Heat fans will do.

In other news: SOUTH BEACH, BRINGIN’ THE HEAT.
