WATCH: Mayor Bloomberg Invokes Bible In Embarrassing Pitch To LeBron
“C’mon LeBron!”
That’s the genius pitch that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is making to free-agent-to-be LeBron James in a video that has many people scratching their heads, and makes NYC (my hometown) look very, very desperate.
Among the highlights of the spot, which is an actual, legitimate marketing campaign from the city of New York to get LeBron James to sign with the Knicks:
- The ad implores LeBron to “make world history.” What.
- Mayor Bloomberg invokes the Bible: “As the good book says, lead us to the promised land.” Huh.
- Bloomberg also notes, “that’s a quote from the King James version.” Whaaaa?
- Again, the tagline of this campaign is “C’mon LeBron.” Yes, New York City, the city that prides itself as being the smartest, shrewdest, most media-savvy place on earth has been reduced to a group of whiny five-year-olds. Come onnnnnnnn LeBronnnnn. Play for our crappy teammmmmm.
Enough bullet points. Roll that embarrassing video tape!
