Rare Video Of The Final Minute Of The “Hoosiers” Game Has Been Released

The Indiana High School Athletic Association has released rare video of “The Hoosiers Game,” the 1954 state championship game between Milan vs. Muncie Central that was the inspiration for the 1986 film Hoosiers.

Milan, a school with an enrollment only 161, was the smallest school ever to win a single-class state basketball title in Indiana, beating a powerhouse Muncie Central team that was going for its fifth straight state title. Milan won on a last-second shot by Bobby Plump, who now owns a bar in Milan called — you guessed it — Plump’s Last Shot.

Since high school basketball is the be-all, end-all in Indiana, today is an important day: this is perhaps the state’s most important sports moment, and now it will live on the internet forever. Hooray, internet!

Video here of the final, decisive moments of the real “Hoosiers Game.” Side note: thank God for the 24-second shot clock.
