Terrible Person Yells “Konnichiwa Bitches!” During Moment Of Silence For Japan

Last night, Argentina played the U.S. in a soccer friendly at the Meadowlands. It ended in a 1-1 draw. From the U.S. team’s perspective…we’d think it would be hard to get too disappointed when you play a team with Lionel Messi on it and don’t lose. The U.S. fans, on the other hand, provided a moment to forget before the game even started.

That came via a pregame moment of silence for Japan. Holding the moment of silence was a classy move, seeing as how that country is experiencing unfathomable devastation only compounded by nuclear radiation worries. To hear a profoundly unclassy move, check out the 0:36 mark of the video below.

There’s not a whole lot left to say after that except: think about these people. Then think about the guy who yelled that. And that pretty much says it all.

[Deadspin]

pretty pathetic and classless comment coming from someone who lives under the shadow of the WTC. i’m quite certain the Japanese people had more compassion for him during his time of tragedy.

    Meadowlands…figures, doesn’t it?

The proper title of this article should be “Terrible AMERICAN yells ‘Konnichiwa, bitches’ during moment of silence.” The person yelled “USA” before the remark and the accent is unambiguously American. Also, absolutely 100% the type of thing a Teabagger would do. Call a spade a spade. Don’t pussyfoot around by ambiguously referring to this asshole as a person of unspecified national affiliation.

Idiots like you thought the would-be Times Square bomber was a Tea Partier. It just turned out to be a disgruntled left-leaning Muslim.

  • Anonymous

The would-be Times Square bomber was a religious fanatic who felt that blowing up civilians was a noble and deity sanctioned method of achieving his delusional aims.

Sounds like a Teabagger more than a left-leaning anything. The Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other religious extremists, whether Muslim, Christian, or any other religion share a common conservatism and delusion that murder is just. Even a virtue. Limbaugh or Beck are just our own Christ-o-fied ayatollah.

Nice try pinning that on progressives though.

You’re actually better off sticking to the usual pacifism-equals-cowardice that the right enjoys tossing around. If this story gets big enough, we’ll ultimately find out this person’s identity. And the smart money is on him being right wing. Only in the brick-ass stupid mind of a conservative fed on Limbaugh and Beck could the logic of shouting down victims of an earthquake in Japan seem like a patriotic gesture.

When it come to nuclear radiation Japan seem to be a little ‘snake bit’ . You young people talk about compassion. Obviously your too young to remember the hundred of thousand or so American soldiers and marines who where beheaded, tortured and starved to death by the Japs in World War II. I wasn’t there but I’m old enough to remember. I will never forget and I damn sure will never forgive. I’ll leave that to the bleeding heart liberals.

You really do not have a clue…so why don’t you take your obummer colored glasses off and see the real world…uh-oh…did I say colored in the same sentence as obummer…?…I must be racist…

Another great right-wing Murcuhn Patriot. I’ve forgotten more about WW !! than you’ll ever learn. Been there – did that. Grow up. Get a grip. Pass on.

Let’s not forget it was another Muslim who discovered him and pointed him out to police. he might have otherwise succeeded.

Certainly the (already) drunk soccer hooligan was referring to the opposing team from Argentina, not the Nipponese.

(As an aside, happy BornThisDay to Stefani Germanotta.)

The Japanese were not saints in WW II, quite the opposite, of course, and they certainly aren’t now. As for WW II, the US was just one of a half dozen imperialist nations waging war to lock down third world resources. That’s what WW II was. A land grab by the wealthiest nations. Our battle with the Japanese had jack shit to do with freedom or justice. It was about competing for control of the Pacific region. In a moral sense, we were exactly equal in that regard.

As for today, I think the Japanese (and Americans) deserve a brutal scrutiny for their ongoing criminal mishandling of the General Electric built nuclear facility before and after the tsunami. We don’t live in a world where radiation remains within national borders. The radiation from Japan and the lies of TEPCO affect the entire planet. And Japan owes us all answers immediately. Having said that, the US (under Republicans and Democrats) has long since labored to subvert international mechanisms of justice. Our crimes against this planet eclipse those of the Japanese and we usually embark on our missions of theft as allies. The US and Japan were not forces for good in WW II and they are not forces for good today.

However, that does not mean that compassion and empathy cannot be extended to the victims of this event. I think discussion about Japan’s responsibility is entirely justified and needed right now. But we can also assist and work to heal. And drunken insults screamed out at a football match serve no purpose other than to reinforce in the minds of the people of the earth that America is home to some truly provincial assholes.

I remembered that also, but the point remains that the bomber was NOT a white Tea Partier who was angry with Obama because of the Health Care bill, as Mayor Bloomberg and the liberal media had thought.

Okay, both sides committed acts against humanity. The only reason why America’s decision to bomb Japan twice, isn’t largely criticized in textbooks, media and other such sources, is because America is on the ‘winning side’. I’m speaking of compassion because no one has the right to say their nation’s hands were clean during any war. Thus no one can say “x” nation doesn’t deserve support because they did “y” to “z” nation. Besides, I’ve always felt that the ability of humans to reach their hands out to help others, regardless friend or foe, makes this world much more easier to remain in.

Yes, and destroying an average of 50% of each of the 67 Japanese cities that were firebombed in ’45, killing more than 500,000 civilians sure puts morality on the side of the US. I salute you Gen. Curtis LeMay. Without you, the US may have been able to take the high road in this argument (what was that? 140,000 civilian casualties from atomic bombs, too? oh, well, nevermind about the high road then).

  • Vide

Oh, did you just happen to not remember that the U.S. dumped two atomic bombs on Japan, killing more than 200,000 people – almost all of them INNOCENT CIVILIANS?

Let’s face it – both sides have committed horrible crimes against humanity. The past happened. Get over it. They have, and they need help right now more than ever.

  • Kenneth

Mezeus, you were 6 when the war ended. Old enough to remember what exactly? Maybe we should base all our politics on what old men remember from when they were six.

  • Anonymous

You know what, buddy? My Grandfather was held in a prisoner of war camp in Burma by the Japanese. He was mistreated horribly. If my Grandfather can get past that–and he did–then you should be able to get past something that had no impact on you personally.

  • Joe42

How sad that such a moron feels free to interrupt a moment of silence like this, and how sad that some other moron is so quick to turn this into an opportunity for his political agenda with absolutely nothing to back up his claims. At least the guy in the stadium can’t use anonymity as an excuse for spouting such ridiculous crap.

  • http://www.dandyid.org/id/okami okami

true. sometimes things occur in conjunction with other things; people who feel strongly are going to make a connection. people tend to want to connect things to each other.

f’r instance, i have a copy of the first reports over the news when Oklahoma City was bombed; for a while they thought it’d been done by Muslims.

  • Lauren

The type of thing a teabagger would do? Where do you come up with stuff Daren? What interest would a tea party member have in being hateful towards the Japanese? The tea party has an issue with what is going on at home, not with the Japanese, think before you type next time moron. Also, there are ignorant people from all over the world, why make such a big deal about the fact that you believe they are American? The point is that they are an asshole.
