Old Charles Barkley Video Is The Most Gloriously 90s Thing Ever

The NBA of the late 80s and early 90s liked to put out these biographical/inspirational VHS tapes about their superstar players. At the time it was a genius idea: little kids like me would watch (and re-watch) such classics as Michael Jordan: Come Fly With Me, and Patrick Ewing: Standing Tall, in awe of Michael Jordan’s flyness and Patrick Ewing’s tallness.
In addition to the short-term gain (my parents’ $20), the league got something even more important, which was control over its image. After watching Come Fly With Me for the fifth or sixth time, Michael Jordan could do no wrong in my eyes. If he was pushing it, I was putting it on my Christmas list.
At the time, the highlights of these videos were the highlights (Jordan dunking with his tongue out was pretty badass to a six-year-old). But not anymore. No, twenty years removed from these defining cassette tapes, the best part of these videos has become the amazing music that accompanies them.
Below are a set of clips from 1990′s NBA Superstars video. They are ridiculous, but in the best way possible. Enjoy.
Charles Barkley — The Warrior
Michael Jordan — Take My Breath Away (lol wut)
Magic Johnson — Control
Larry Bird — Small Town
