Rest Easy, America: Barack And Michelle Kissed The Second Time They Were On The Kiss Cam

You heard here last night about the warm reception President Obama got as he left Team USA’s shaky 80-69 tuneup win over Brazil, but it wasn’t always like that – and it was all because of the Kiss Cam. As we also mentioned last night, the Obamas were featured on the big screen, primed for a smooch… but the president couldn’t seal the deal. And those in attendance were sorely disappointed:

But fortunately for them, that wasn’t the end of it. Before heading out in the final minute, the Obamas got another try, and this time, they gave the people what they wanted:

You know, for someone who’s been living in an unending spotlight for the last four-odd years, Michelle still looked a little uneasy with this bit of attention. It apparently worked to get the crowd in their favor, though: those “Four more years!” chants? They, along with wild cheering, started with the kiss. But wait – was it ALL A SETUP?

Not to be cynical, but press pool was out in motorcade ready to leave and then brought back into arena in time for successful kiss-cam redo.

Oh no, BE cynical: because that would be hilarious… and maybe even smart politics. As dumb as it is, it is humanizing to see the first couple like that, and there will probably be people who look at this, think, “They seem nice,” and might actually be more likely to vote for them because of that, whether it’s a conscious thing or not. Us, we’re just glad the president got another chance at Kiss Cam success.
