Today In Racist Soccer Fan Behavior: This Idiot

If you watched the World Cup in South Africa, you may have noticed a series of commercials that asked soccer fans to “Say No To Racism.” It’s a marketing campaign that’s been pushed pretty heavily by FIFA in recent years, and even takes up virtual ad space in their popular EA Sports game.
The reason that FIFA feels the need to tell its fans not to shout bigoted idiocy at opposing players? Well, soccer fans in certain parts of the world can be… how do I put this delicately… racist as shit.
Take this guy, for instance. During Liverpool’s match with Europa League team FK Rabotnicki, said guy (we’ll call him “Macedonian Asshole” from here on in), decided to make monkey gestures at two black Liverpool players.
This is because David Ngog, the player who scored two goals against Macedonian Asshole’s team, is black. Pictures of the taunts surfaced, and now FK Rabotnicki may face fines from UEFA:
UEFA are waiting to assess reports from their match delegate and the referee before taking action against the Macedonian club.
A spokesman for the governing body said: “We are aware of the matter but we are waiting for the reports from the delegate and the referee.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Macedonia received disciplinary action due to racist behavior. They were fined £10,730 in 2003 after English players were subjected to racist taunts and an English flag was burned. They are currently 66th in FIFA’s world rankings, which may help explain some of Macedonian Asshole’s misplaced anger.
