During Real Madrid and FC Barcelona’s 1-1 La Liga draw today, we were informed that the teams had run a combined 200 kilometers. Since there’s considerable downtime during soccer matches, one would presume the Gol TV producers thought this nice little factoid would help keep things in the booth lively.
Well it did, but probably not in the way that they had hoped. Ray Hudson, a former British footballer who now commentates for the network and is known for saying great things, pretty much thought it was the dumbest statistic ever.
