An Unmanned Runaway Golf Cart Plowed Into A Crowd On The Field After A High School Football Game Last Night

For a high school football coach, winning a state championship is the pinnacle of achievement. The moments following such a triumph should be some of the most satisfying of a coach’s career. Instead, for the Dekaney (Texas) coach Willie Amendola, they were some of the scariest. After his squad knocked off Cibolo Steele 34-14 to win the 5A Division II state championship, Amendola and several others on the field were knocked over by a runaway golf cart with no one operating it.

Thankfully, it didn’t appear anyone’s injuries were too serious (Amendola even talked about the incident later, saying he “rolled off, just like James Bond”), but it was a surreal scene. How did it happen? Well, such a bizarre incident naturally was spurred on by a freak occurrence:

The cart was apparently left unattended when a pylon collected from the field jammed on the accelerator, sending it motoring through a crowd of coaches, reporters and other onlookers[.]

Also noteworthy in the video below: the stopping the cart. The first move was actually made by one of the people who got hit, before he jumped off and let a bystander hop on and actually stop the thing. Nice work. ell, we can at least say this: we’ve never seen an incident like this before. Video below.

Its always the black that claims to be injured the most.  Always
