A SportsCenter Anchor’s Sly On-Air Reference To The New ESPN Book
So, you’ve no doubt noticed we’ve been talking about that ESPN book, Those Guys Have All the Fun, a lot around these parts. And if the following clip from SportsCenter earlier this evening is any indication, ESPN’s employees – or at least anchor Steve Levy – are thinking about the book as much as we are.
Now, the extreme skeptics among us might say, “I don’t know, that could be a coincidence.” To such skeptics, we say: “Come on.” The odds of a coincidence like that are minute to being with – especially so considering that the phrase “That’s not to say we’re gonna let those guys have all the fun” didn’t even seamlessly fit into what Levy was saying. It was purely the work of a man desperate to make a sly reference…and we love him for it.
Also note the reaction of co-anchor Jay Harris. Do you see a little shake of the head, as if to say, “Wow. You really went there” – as Levy sports a little grin, we might add? We sure see it, because Levy indeed went there…and for that, despite the slight hitch in his delivery, he’s our favorite SportsCenter anchor at the moment.
