“Take The Test!” Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins Trade Blows At Press Conference

Bernard Hopkins and WBC light-heavyweight champion Jean Pascal are set to fight on May 21st. But the boxers started exchanging blows two months early when a press conference got physical on Monday.

Hopkins is hoping to make history by becoming the oldest fighter ever to win a major world title. Pascal attempted to make history by trying to usurp Allen Iverson’s title of most-repeated phrase in sports presser history. But the champ wasn’t talking about practice. He was talking about steroids, and incessantly demanded that Hopkins “take the test” to prove he’s not taking performance-enhancers.

This isn’t the first time Pascal antagonized Hopkins at a presser, but the first incident didn’t spiral out of control like the press conference Monday.

When Pascal put his arm around Hopkins, the 46-year old shoved him. That’s when things got physical, and when the volume and speed with which Pascal called his challenger a cheater and repeated “Take the test” increased dramatically.
