British Soccer Coach’s Expletive-Laced Interview (Video)
No one’s ever accused Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp of being mild-mannered. But his blow up at Sky Sports reporter Rob Palmer is uncharacteristic even for him.
Old ‘Arry, as he’s affectionately known, didn’t take kindly to Palmer’s insinuation of his being a “wheeler dealer.” He responded by saying, “I’m no wheeler-dealer. F**k off,” and storming off set.
After he high-tailed it off camera, he can be heard saying, “I’m no f*****g dealer. Don’t say that. I’m a f*****g football manager.”
We can’t condone Redknapp’s x-rated rant, but he does have a point. His alleged wheelings and/or dealings have been few and far between this summer. He’s only made three notable moves: a cut-rate defender (William Gallas), a back-up goalkeeper (Stipe Pletikosa), and one impressive deadline-day coup (Rafael van der Vaart).
By the shopaholic benchmarks of Spurs’ fellow Premier league team’s, Redknapp’s club has been downright thrifty. It’s still a gross overreaction, even by American standards.
