Usain Bolt Has “No Respect” For Carl Lewis, Who Thinks He Might Be On ‘Roids

Carl Lewis, both after the Beijing Olympics and before these Games in London, has hinted at possible PED use by Usain Bolt. It’s natural for cynics to speculate based on his unprecedented times, but when you’re a highly-visible former star, you probably shouldn’t say stuff like this without evidence. Understandably, the usually-aloof Bolt stepped out of character when interviewed after his most recent gold medal. For once, he was pissed off.

“I’m going to say something controversial right now, Carl Lewis – I have no respect for him,” Bolt said, having cited 1936 quadruple champion Jesse Owens as a man he held in the highest regard.

“I think he is just looking for attention really because nobody really talks much about him. It was really sad for me when I heard the other day what he was saying, it was upsetting.

“So, for me, I’ve lost all respect for him, all respect.

“It was all about drugs, about drugs stuff for me. For an athlete to be out of the sport saying that was really upsetting for me. As far as I am concerned he is just looking for attention.”

Honestly, what Bolt says isn’t even that controversial. Over the top, maybe, but Lewis’ remarks were seriously uncalled for. (And why does he think he needs attention? We just named him the best Olympian of all time!).

And if you’re wondering, Lewis actually tested positive for stimulants three times before the 1988 Olympics, though he was allowed to compete when US officials ruled his ingestion was inadvertent. So if anyone should be questioning a track great, it’s Bolt. This is like the pot calling the diamond black. It doesn’t make any sense.

Lewis has made statements like this multiple times, but this one sums them up best. Somebody’s jealous!

Asked before the London Games what he thought of Bolt, he said: “It’s just… interesting.

“I watch the results like everyone else and wait… for time to tell.”

Yeah, time will tell. Time will tell you to shut up and just enjoy one of the greatest athletic performances of all time, Carl.

    ok..once again Sportsgrid…

Carl Lewis and a bunch of other athletes FAILED drug tests prior to the 1988 games.

Rulings were overturned , in my opinion because of the influence of NIKE and other sponsors, but official reason was that they said in Carl’s case it was “inadvertent use”.

This is common knowledge and relevant to the story, why is it not even mentioned?

i support Usain Bolt all the way. carl Lewis is a very jealous individual. Bolt was right when he said Carl is just looking for attention. Before this i didnt even know the man. Stop trying to stay relevant and respect that a new generation has taken over.
