Was LeBron James A “Petulant Child” For Skipping Pregame Intro, Or Was He Justified?
Last night, LeBron James was conspicuously absent from his pregame introduction in Cleveland. Although LeBron insists he was “using the restroom,” he probably wasn’t.
Before the game, security at Quicken Loans Arena denied James’ entourage access to the building. The Cavs told ESPN.com that visiting NBA players are not normally given private access to the underground garage, but “exceptions are made when requests are made in advance.”
This probably annoyed LeBron. Picture it: he’s sitting in a car, unable to get into the arena, as he realizes that Dan Gilbert is passive-aggressively sending him an “F You” message, via a Quicken Loans Arena security guard (after the game, Gilbert tweeted, “Not in our garage!!”).
So LeBron decides to spurn the pregame intro, and not give Gilbert the satisfaction of seeing him booed by thousands of people. I don’t blame him.
Skip Bayless, however, does. Here’s Bayless calling LeBron a “child” this morning on ESPN2.
