Just In Time For Wayne Rooney’s Return To Euro 2012, This Nike Ad Surfaces

Those who have followed Euro Cup 2012 have probably noticed Wayne Rooney has been absent from England’s squad, not even dressing for its first two games. The sometimes over the top Rooney was suspended for the first two matches of the tournament after kicking an opposing player in a Euro qualifying match against Montenegro.
Here’s the incident that drew Rooney’s ban:
But after a 1-1 draw with France, and an impressive 3-2 victory over Sweden, Rooney is set to return when England finishes group play with host Ukraine tomorrow. A draw or win from the English side would advance them to the knockout stage. And while Rooney and his supporters are hoping for a successful return to action, Nike has already taken advantage of the situation.
Check out this advertisement, “My Time Is Now,” that uses audio clips and a closeup of Rooney to paint the strikers story of being his country’s crown jewel to the recent ridicule he’s drawn. Just Nike being Nike, producing a quality ad. But this one has an eerily similar feel to it.
