We Think This Is Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert Taking A Shot At Bill Simmons

Dan Gilbert, known for writing letters in Comic Sans and owning the Cleveland Cavaliers, hopes, like many owners in small NBA markets, that the current lockout will lead to a restructuring of the league’s competitive balance.

This week’s meetings between players and owners started to show a tiny bit of promise, but apparently Gilbert and Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver thought some of the other owners’ proposals were too generous.

This caused Grantland editor-in-chief and mustache surprise specialist Bill Simmons to blast them on Twitter:

1 Keep hearing Gilbert/Sarver are hurting NBA lockout progress from owner’s side. This pisses me off for a variety of reasons, but mainly…

2 Sarver overpaid for team, spent last few years slicing $$$$ and turned Suns fans against him. Not he wants to blow up the system? Go away.

3 Gilbert also overpaid for his team, overpaid players FOR YEARS and would love the current system had LBJ stayed. Now it’s no good for him?

If we were to venture a guess, Gilbert was probably referring to Simmons’s comments when he fired off this missive toward the entire NBA blogosphere:

So, to recap: Dan Gilbert makes up a word, “bloggissist,” and takes a shot at a noted bloggissist using a microbloggississing tool. That sounds about right.

It’s really too bad Twitter won’t render in Comic Sans. It would’ve really added the right emphasis to that tweet.
