Metta World Peace Interrupts A Dwight Howard Media Scrum To Pimp His Own Twitter Account

This, above, is a media scrum. Right there in the middle, the guy in the purple shirt, that’s Dwight Howard. Sometimes it’s difficult to tell just how many microphones and iPhones and cameras are shoved in athletes’ faces, but hopefully this gives you a new appreciation for their patience with media members and their incessantly repetitive and cliche-leaning questions.

Tonight, Dwight Howard returns to Orlando for the first time since he whined his way out of there; Orlando comes in with nothing other than a score to settle, while the Lakers are battling for position on the fringe of the Western Conference playoffs. So the game has drawn significant interest, both on a narrative and practical front. This particular media herd caught up with Howard presumably after this morning’s shootaround, circling their prey and trapping him for some good-old-fashioned controversy-baiting. There’s a question about his emotions upon his return and his “message for Orlando,” but there’s also Metta World Peace, too. He weaves his way through the scrum and into the middle where Dwight is sitting, interrupts a reporter and pimps his Twitter handle. That’s @MettaWorldPeace, by the way. Oh, and follow Dwight too.

Say what you will about Metta World Peace’s proclivity for random on-court violence, but the NBA is always a more interesting place when he’s around.
