Yeah, It Was Inevitable People Would Revel In This Photo Of An Anguished A-Rod

Alex Rodriguez broke his hand after getting hit by a pitch last night, and will most likely miss several weeks. It’s bad luck both for A-Rod and the Yankees (though a shadow of his former self, he’s still a solid player), so why do we get the feeling there were plenty of people who were at least amused, and at the most delighted, by this news? Oh, right, because there were. Everyone loves ripping on A-Rod. And this photo made sure they had material to do it:

Now, we should say something here: the face captured at this instant might be amusing, but even though A-Rod’s an incredibly easy guy to rip on who makes more money than we’ll ever dream of seeing, the actual situation at hand is not so amusing. Breaking your hand hurts no matter how rich you are or how embarrassingly you get fed popcorn on national television, and missing a month or so of games sucks for any competitive person. But still… that face. We might feel bad laughing about it, but… we get it. Video of the hit-by-pitch that started it all below.
