Aroldis Chapman Celebrated His Save With A Kindergarten-Level Double Somersault
Aroldis Chapman nailed down a big 4-3 win for the Reds over the Brewers, after Bronson Arroyo gave up a no-hit bid in the 8th inning. And in either a pre-meditated act of showmanship or a sudden moment of overwhelming glee, he somersaulted. Twice. In a row. It would be fair to say that this has never been done in the history of Major League Baseball.
Some people on Twitter are wondering if this was immature or childish, and predicting a retaliation tomorrow by the Brewers. But the only way that this is childish is the child-like way Chapman gently rolls on his head. He must have taken that move from a “Baby’s first steps” home video.
Here’s proof that this happened (via Larry Brown Sports):
“WHERE IN THE WORLD DID THAT COME FROM?!?” asked announcer Thom Brennaman, and Thom, we have no idea. Let’s just roll with it.
