Barry Bonds Trial Becomes “Humiliating,” Ex-Mistress Takes Stand
If you had Day 5 in your “Moment When The Barry Bonds Trial Would get Extremely Uncomfortable” office pool, then you’re in luck, because things got weird on Monday.
Yesterday, one of Bonds’ ex-mistresses, Kimberly Bell, took the stand, and among the topics of conversation: bloating, sexual dysfunction, and the time Bonds allegedly threatened to “cut out [Bell's] breast implants.”
ESPN’s TJ Quinn and Mark Fainaru-Wada broke down Monday’s proceedings:
As bad as Bonds came off during Bell’s testimony, and despite yesterday probably being the most embarrassing of his life, Bonds’ legal team came out ahead. Cristina Arguedas, a Law-And-Order-esque defense attorney known for being ruthless, repeatedly brought up a book project that Bell had in the works with a crime writer named Aphrodite Jones.
The way Arguedas painted it, the project hinged on steroid use. This, obviously, would call Bell’s credibility into question.
Today, Jeremy and Jason Giambi are expected to take the stand. For live updates of the trial, follow Bethlehem Shoals on Twitter.
