Brewers Closer John Axford Lost His Save Streak Last Night, But Not His Sense Of Humor
John Axford blew a chance at 50 straight saves when he gave up three runs in the ninth to the Cubs. And maybe it’s that the Brewers came back to win the 13th anyway, but “Ax” was able to keep things in perspective. He left this note for the media after the game (via Midwest Sports Fans):

There’s so much to love about this note: the fact that it exists at all, the fact that “Love” is spelled with a heart, the fact that he just writes “cliche” rather than wasting our time with actual cliches. Also, his wife is having a baby? That’s awesome.
If this note tells us anything, it’s that baseball players are people too. That, and also John Axford is not only a good closer, but a funny dude. Hooray for John Axford!
