Brian Wilson Confronts Giants’ CEO Larry Baer, Wants His World Series Ring NOW
Brian Wilson’s arm is fine, but his head is as screwed up as ever. According to various reports, the new Dodgers’ reliever confronted Giants’ CEO Larry Baer in the stands at AT&T following SF’s 3-2 win on Tuesday night, and complained that he hasn’t received his 2012 World Series ring. What a delightful display, eh?
Wilson walked through the San Francisco handshake line to confront Baer in the front row of the stands. An animated conversation ensued, and Wilson wasn’t talking when asked about it later in the clubhouse. But several are reporting that it had to do with his ring, which Wilson still hasn’t received. Yep.

“Just a conversation between me and him,” said Wilson, when I asked what that was all about.
But a well placed source tells me Wilson is steamed that he still hasn’t received his 2012 World Series ring, and he was letting Baer know he wasn’t happy about it.
The whole thing is pretty bizarre, considering that the Giants not only invited Wilson to the team ring ceremony earlier this year, but have been trying to organize a mini-ceremony for Wilson all season. San Francisco Chronicle:
“I don’t know why he decided to make a show of it and air his grievance tonight,” team spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said.
The Giants have tried to have a sort of mini-ceremony with former players when they get their rings, as they did in Toronto when manager Bruce Bochy gave Melky Cabrera his ring in a brief, private ceremony. That scene was repeated elsewhere.
But after tonight’s episode, Slaughter said, the Giants just sent the ring to the Dodgers clubhouse with instructions to deliver it to Wilson.
On KNBR radio last night, a caller said he was seated near the two, and could hear Wilson demanding that he wanted the ring delivered to his locker.
Wilson pitched in only two games for the Giants last season before an elbow injury ended his season. That doesn’t preclude him from getting a ring, of course, but this display was bizarre, even for him.
And here’s video we obtained of Wilson leaving AT&T tonight:
