Giants Fan Bryan Stow Appears On The Jumbotron To Give His Son The Ceremonial Game Ball

The Giants home opener yesterday was particularly special this year. One year after being brutally beaten to the point of brain damage, Bryan Stow appeared on the big screen to virtually hand his son, Tyler, the ceremonial first pitch. With emotions running high, Tyler threw an impressive strike over home plate.

Stow was the victim of a savage attack after a game between the Dodgers and Giants a little over a year ago. Stow, who was at Dodger Stadium for the team’s home opener, was separated from his friends just before being knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly in the head. Though Stow survives, he may never be the same.

All that mattered little on Friday, when Stow’s son Tyler was in attendance to throw out the first pitch. Tyler was without his father, who could not make it to the stadium in his condition. But Bryan was still able to make an appearance (via CBS News):

Though sports don’t have the power to heal Bryan, they do have the power to bring people together in times of tragedy. It’s a beautiful thing.
