Bryce Harper Reminds Us That He Has A Really, Really Strong Arm

A few months back, we brought you Bryce Harper unleashing a 250-foot throw to nearly nail a runner at home tagging up from third. We’ve always known Harper to be a five-tool prospect, even if it’s his bat (and off-field antics, for that matter) that receives most of the attention. Well he was at it again last night in Stephen Strasburg’s final start of the season when Miami’s Rob Brantly knocked a sinking liner to center field.
Harper caught the throw on the run and came up throwing with Greg Dobbs tagging from third. It was an especially sticky situation, with the score level at 6-6 in the top of the ninth inning. But Harper’s throw was right on line and nailed Dobbs at home with seconds to spare. Like actually seconds. Seriously, check out the above photo.
As much as we want to praise Harper for this one, much of the blame goes to the Marlins’ third base coach. You just don’t run on Bryce Harper, bro. Clown call.
The Marlins knocked in three runs in the top of the 10th, however, and eventually won the game 9-7. This concludes your Bryce-Harper-has-a-cannon-for-an-arm update.
