Bryce Harper Steals Home After Being Hit By Cole Hamels

New lesson for MLB pitchers – if you’re gonna hit Bryce Harper, don’t give him an opportunity to steal home. Because he will. And he did.

Cole Hamels started off the bottom of the 1st inning in smooth fashion, getting Ian Desmond to strike out and Steve Lombardozzi to fly out. When Bryce Harper stepped to the plate, Hamels hit him. A Jayson Werth single got Harper over to 3rd, and that’s where Hamels might have made a mistake.

That wasn’t really even a close play as you can see from the screenshot, but the most encouraging thing for the Nationals might just be the fact that there was no showboating by Harper at all, they celebrated, but he didn’t show anyone up at any point – a big step in the right direction in his own clubhouse as well as the visiting one.
